During the first leg of Barcelona’s 2015 Champions League semi-final clash with Bayern Munich at the Camp Nou, Lionel Messi absolutely ruined the career of Jerome Boateng.
Lionel Messi, the six-time Ballon d’Or winner scored two goals in his team’s 3-0 victory. Barcelona won the tie 5-2 and progressed to the final, where they beat Juventus 3-1 in Berlin and won their fifth UEFA Champions League title.
Fed down the right flank, Messi twisted Jerome Boateng into next week in a 1v1 duel inside the box, putting him right on his backside with a deft dribble and change of direction. After destroying Boateng and sending him back to Hamburg, Messi had the composure to dink the ball over the onrushing Manuel Neuer.

“That doesn’t really affect me. I was laughing at myself. When you fall down or slip in a situation and somebody scores a goal, it’s normal. These things happen; it happens to me, it happens to other players, I don’t care about these things. For me, he’s the best player in the world. That’s football. Sometimes you look bad or something happens. I’m a defender, that doesn’t kill me or anything.” Jerome Boateng told ESPN.
