Why Andre Russell is not playing in IPL ?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Andre Russell will not play in the 2026 season of the Indian Premier League because he decided to step away from the tournament after the 2025 season. KKR released him before the 2026 auction, and instead of entering the auction, Russell chose to retire from IPL completely. After more than a decade in the league, the physical demands of playing as an all-rounder\u2014where he had to bat aggressively, bowl fast overs, and field intensely throughout a long tournament\u2014became increasingly challenging, especially as he moved into his late 30s. Due to this workload and the need to manage his fitness, he chose to retire from playing in the IPL rather than continue competing at the same level. However, Russell\u2019s connection with Kolkata Knight Riders continues, as he has taken on a role around the team\u2019s support staff to mentor and guide younger players with his experience.<\/p>\n
