Do you know which was the first video to achieve the feat of one million views on YouTube? Well for your information, it was a Nike advert which featured the most loving footballer of this generation, Ronaldinho. He was the star of the first YouTube video to hit one million views.

The advert became the first video to get 1 million views on YouTube. It was a remarkable achievement considering it was back in an era where Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites weren’t even a thing.

At the time, he was the best footballer in the world. In that famous video, Ronaldinho shows his skills by repeatedly volleying the football against the crossbar from a distance, using his accuracy and control to keep the ball off of the ground the entire time. The Brazilian international was advertising a new pair of Nike boots, doing it pretty dang well. Instead of just trying to hit the woodwork once from distance, Ronaldinho kept the ball in the air and THREE times in succession made contact. It gets better, of course, because each time when the ball rebounded, he controlled it with his chest.

Although the video was fake because some parts were edited with computer generated images, it went viral, and was actually the first video on YouTube to reach one million views.

Ronaldinho has played international football at every age level and was identified as a rising star at the 1997 U-17 World Championship in Egypt. He scored two goals from penalty kicks. In 1999, first he appeared in the South American Youth Championship and scored three goals helping the U20s to reach third place. Then he appeared in that year’s FIFA World Youth Championship held in Nigeria, scoring his first goal in Brazil’s last group match. In the round of 16, he scored two goals in the first-half in a 4–0 win over Croatia. The Brazilian was part of the Selecao’s 2002 World Cup winning side and also dazzled his way to the Champions League with Barcelona.
