RCB decided to retain Virat Kohli (Rs 15 crore), Glenn Maxwell (Rs 11crore), Mohammed Siraj (Rs 7 crore). They did not use their fourth retention. It was quite surprising because the franchise left out the likes of Chahal. The mega auction will be even more important for RCB because their most favorite player, AB De Villiers has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. It will be tough task for the management to find a replacement of ABD.

Yuzvendra Chahal
The omission of Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal from the retention list was very shocking. The reason is not clear as to why this happened. However, there is high probability that RCB will go for Chahal at the IPL Auction 2022. They will try to pick him at a lower price. He picked up 139 wickets for Royal Challengers Bangalore in 113 matches. However, the two new franchises may look to sign him and stop him from entering the mega auction.
Harshal Patel
Harshal Patel was the Most Valuable Player of IPL 2021 and also the Purple Cap winner. But due to tight budget of retention, Royal Challengers Bangalore did not retain him before the IPL Auction 2022. The management decided to go with Mohammed Siraj over Harshal Patel. Harshal has proved that he is a match-winner who can scalp wickets regularly for the team. RCB might try to get his services back at a lower price. There will be a great competition for the Purple Cap winner at the mega auction.
T Natarajan
SRH did not retain T Natarajan due to other priorities in the franchise. This has opened the doors for other franchises to get the services of yorker specialist. The left-arm seamer will be the perfect buy for RCB at the IPL 2022 mega auction. Death bowling has always been a problem for RCB. Bangalore needs a good death-bowler.
David Miller
David Miller was once a top player in IPL but he slowly lost his charm. RCB might try to go after Miller as a replacement for AB De Villiers. The playing style of Miller is also very explosive just like ABD. David Miller is a realistic target for RCB in the IPL 2022 mega auctions. Miller can secure his position in the middle-order and provide the much needed left-handed power-hitting option for the unit.
Mitchell Starc
RCB has struggled to find a world class overseas pacer in the recent seasons. Dale Steyn, Chris Jordan, Chris Morris and Kyle Jamieson – all failed to perform. Mitchell Starc has already played for RCB and was purely lethal for the team. There are few chances that he will take part in the IPL 2022, but if he does, RCB can target him. With Starc in the squad, there will be a strong bowling attack in place.
