The officials of Cricket South Africa (CSA) have confirmed that AB de Vi lliers will not come out of retirement to represent South Africa in the upcoming T20 World Cup this year.

AB de Villiers has decided that his retirement decision remains final once and for all. De Villiers himself, and South Africa head coach Mark Boucher have in the past spoken about the chances of the star batsman coming out of retirement and represent the Proteas again.

Discussions with AB de Villiers have concluded with the batsman deciding once and for all, that his retirement will remain final.

Last month it had emerged he was in discussions over a possible South Africa comeback with an eye on the T20 World Cup

“We are lined up to have a chat sometime during the IPL. But yes, we’ve been talking about it already. Last year, he asked me if I would be interested. And I said, ‘absolutely’. And come the end of the IPL, we will have a look at where we are at with regards to my form and my fitness.” AB de Villiers said after the match against KKR.

He played 114 Tests, 228 ODIs and 78 T20Is before announcing his surprise retirement. AB de Villiers had announced shock retirement from international cricket in 2018.
