Guwahati, December 11, 2025: Aqua Doctor Solutions, in co-organisation with Fishery.News, is organising the maiden edition of the Aqua North East Summit 2025, a one-day high-impact conference aimed at transforming the aquaculture landscape of the Northeastern region.
The event will be held on December 12 at Hotel Taj Vivanta, Guwahati, in collaboration with the Department of Fisheries, Government of India, and supported by the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB). The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCC&I) is associated as a Chamber partner.
Addressing a press conference on December 11, Induvardhan Reddy Putana, Founder & CEO of Fishery.News said: “Northeast India has the potential to emerge as a leading aquaculture hub for the country. Through the Aqua North East Summit, we aim to bring science, technology, policy, and business together on a single platform. This summit will set the foundation for long-term growth and pave the way for the Aqua North East Expo 2026.”
As the co-organiser, Fishery.News will lead the digital awareness, communication and coverage of the summit.
The press conference was also addressed by Suryateja Vemavarapu, Co-founder & COO of Fishery.News; Dr Debtanu Barman, Founder & CEO, Aqua Doctor Solutions and Ashim Kumar Borah, Senior Executive (Technical) cum Officer in Charge, NFDB-NERC, Guwahati.
The Aqua North East Summit 2025 is bringing together policymakers, researchers, industry leaders, technology companies, startups, cooperatives, FPOs and progressive farmers from all Northeastern states.
It will address the region’s core challenges productivity gaps, lack of scientific adoption, limited market linkages, value-chain inefficiencies, and climate-related vulnerabilities.
Key topics include species diversification; cold-chain development; AI, IOT and digital farming technologies; sustainability; and financial inclusion through government schemes such as the PMMSY. The engaging sessions will feature networking opportunities; product showcases and industry-government dialogues.
The Northeast holds one of India’s richest aquaculture resource bases — abundant waterbodies, high fish consumption, and a rapidly growing regional market. However, challenges such as low productivity, limited extension support, and fragmented supply chains continue to restrict growth.
The summit aims to build capacity for technology-driven aquaculture, improve coordination among stakeholders, and promote investment. It will also lay the groundwork for the Aqua North East Expo 2026, billed as the region’s largest aquaculture exhibition.
Various government bodies, institutions, startups, cooperatives, and progressive farmers are participating in the day-long event, which seeks to shape the future of aquaculture in the Northeast.
