Belgium 26-member squad announced for UEFA Euro 2020, Eden Hazard included

Belgium coach Roberto Martinez on Monday named a 26-player squad for Euro 2020. Belgium have been in fine form recently — they have not lost a single game since October 2020, when they were beaten 2-1 by England in the Nations League. Eden Hazard has been named in Belgium Euro 2020 Squad.

National teams will be allowed to take 26 players to Euro 2020 instead of the standard 23-man squads, UEFA have confirmed. The changes have arrived as UEFA hope to ease pressure on players and managers following a congested season due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Martinez also selected a group of 11 reserve players who could step up in case of injuries ahead of the tournament, which opens on June 11.

Among the 24 teams participating in EURO 2020, Belgium becomes the first side to announce their squad. Belgium, the world’s top-ranked side, have been drawn in Group B along with Russia, Denmark and Finland. Belgium Euro 2020 Squad looks strong and have depth.

Eden Hazard has been named in Belgium Euro 2020 Squad following another injury-hit campaign at Real Madrid. Hazard has struggled for form since swapping Chelsea for Madrid in a €100 million (£86m/$121m) deal back in June 2019, with persistent injury problems preventing him from living up to that hefty price tag. The 30-year-old only recently returned to action after a muscle issue, but has been included in Roberto Martinez’s final shortlist for this summer’s European Championship, which is due to kick off on June 11. The mercurial winger has won 106 caps for his country to date, scoring 32 goals, and was the standout player during their last major tournament showing at the 2018 World Cup.
