New Zealand squad for ICC T20 World Cup 2021 announced
New Zealand cricket team has announced its 15-member squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 which is scheduled to be played in the UAE and Oman this October-November. The same squad of T20 World Cup will also tour India later this year for three T20Is. India and New Zealand will play a T20 series after the conclusion of T20 World Cup. Mark Chapman has been included in New Zealand’s 15-member squad for ICC T20 World Cup 2021. He represented Hong Kong at the T20 World Cup in 2014 and 2016. Ross Taylor, Colin de Grandhomme and Finn Allen didn’t get a place in the New Zealand’s squad. As per the conditions of pitches in UAE which are favorable to spinners, Todd Astle along with Ish Sodhi and Mitchell Santner have been picked in the squad. Fast bowler Adam Milne has been named as a standby. He will travel along with New Zealand’s squad but will be called upon only as an injury replacement.
Ross Taylor ICC T20 World Cup 2021
Ross Taylor and Colin de Grandhomme, the New Zealand veteran batsmen are the other major exclusions from the New Zealand squad for ICC T20 World Cup 2021 announced by New Zealand Cricket on Monday. Taylor, a veteran of 102 T20Is, played his last T20 match for New Zealand in November 2020 when New Zealand played West Indies at home.
It is also confirmed that New Zealand players involved in IPL 2021 would be allowed to re-join their franchises and complete the competition when it re-starts in September.
