After the completion of Euro 2020 Championship and Copa America 2021, another international football tournament is on its way. The reason behind this is that they are taking six members from its European Championship squad to the Tokyo Olympics. Spain coach Luis de la Fuente included Unai Simón, Eric García, Pau Torres, Pedri González, Mikel Oyarzabal and Dani Olmo in Spain Football Squad for Tokyo 2020 Olympics. They all were also included in the Spain Euro 2020 squad that advanced to the quarterfinals.
It was rumored that Sergio Ramos had previously expressed a desire to represent Spain at an Olympics. It was assumed that he might be included in Spain Olympics squad because he did not get a spot in Spain squad for Euro 2020. But he was not included in the final squad for Olympics.
