Ben Stokes IPL 2022
The name of Ben Stokes comes among the most sought-after players in the T20 leagues around the world, but unfortunately Stokes is not playing in IPL.
Why Ben Stokes is not playing in IPL 2022?
Ben Stokes is not playing in IPL 2022 because he withdrew his name ahead of the IPL 2022 Mega auction. He decided to opt-out of the IPL 2022 auction after he was not retained by the Rajasthan Royals. It was a big call for him because IPL is a very big platform for cricketers. Stokes took this decision largely because of bio-bubble fatigue. Another reason is that he wants to focus on Test cricket.
Stokes took an indefinite break from cricket in 2021 due to his mental health, especially after the death of his father Ged. He made his comeback in the Ashes 2021-22, where England was defeated 4-0 by Australia.
Stokes made his IPL debut in 2017 and ended up as the Most Valuable Player of the edition. He scored 316 runs and picked 12 wickets in IPL 2017 while playing for Rising Pune Supergiants. In the IPL 2018 auction, he was picked by Rajasthan Royals for INR 12.50 crores.
