He was cut from England’s 23-man squad against Croatia last week and completely unused in the match against Scotland, when Southgate made just two substitutions. Another reason Why is Jadon Sancho not playing for England at EURO 2020 is that Sancho hasn’t been exposed to as many England fans compared to his teammates by way of playing in Germany. He was simply not selected by Southgate after performing poorly in the warm-up friendlies.
Gareth Southgate explains why Jadon Sancho has not featured yet for England
“We’ve got some explosive options and a lot of them are young players and experiencing a big tournament for the first time. So as a coaching staff we are realistic about our expectations of them as individuals. Jadon is in that mix. He’s trained well the last few days and of course we have got those options and those decisions to make.”
Jadon Sancho is heavily linked with a move to the Manchester United for the past 2 seasons. After seeing the present situation, he will probably join United in this summer transfer window and he might become one of the most expensive players in football history. If he comes to the Premier League, Gareth Southgate can watch him more easily.
This could also make Sancho work harder. His England snub is a little reminder to him he is not the complete player yet, and he can’t get complacent.
