Why Krunal Pandya is not selected in Indian Team for 2023 ODI World Cup?
Krunal Pandya is not included in the 2023 ODI World Cup squad because there are already two spin all-rounders in the team. Ravindra Jadeja is the regular starter in India playing 11 whereas Axar Patel has also cemented his place in the squad. Therefore, there was no place for Krunal Pandya in the squad.
All-rounder Krunal Pandya has been out of Team India for a long time. The reason behind his absence is Ravindra Jadeja. India already have the best spin all rounder in the form of Jadeja. Both Jadeja and Pandya are left arm bowler all rounders. Jadeja is ahead of Krunal in all three aspects batting ,bowling and fielding. And that’s why he is not even in contention for the selectors.
However, the CSK player has been ruled out of T20 World Cup 2022 and therefore the selectors might have look upon Krunal Pandya as a replacement. However, they decided to go with Axar Patel instead. This happened because Krunal has not played much cricket in the last few months. He also didn’t perform up to his expectations in the IPL.
