Argentina Squad for Copa America 2021 announced : See official players list by CONMEBOL

According to the official CONMEBOL website, Argentina Squad for Copa America 2021 was finalised on Thursday night. Based on the information published to the CONMEBOL website, the 28-man Argentina squad has been given below.

The Copa America’s upcoming edition would be the 47th edition of the prestigious Latin American international football tournament. The competition was postponed in 2020 due to the pandemic. It is all set to get underway from June 13 this year. The tournament was scheduled to be held in Argentina and Colombia.

After it has been clear that Colombia and Argentina will not be able to host Copa America 2021 due to civil unrest and Covid-19 concerns, CONMEBOL announced that Brazil has stepped in to stage elite continental competition.

Argentina are the favorites to win the Copa America 2021. The main reason behind this is the presence of GOAT Lionel Messi in the Argentina Squad for Copa America 2021.

It was surprising to see defender Juan Foyth and striker Lucas Ocampos missing out from the 28-player Argentina Squad for Copa America 2021, despite featuring regularly since Lionel Scaloni became head coach in 2018. Ocampos had been a starter in Lionel Scaloni’s team just one week prior vs Chile in a 1-1 World Cup qualifying draw. Foyth was also involved in squad of Argentina vs Colombia in a World Cup qualifying match earlier this week.

The 10 teams are split into two groups of five, with the top four progressing to the quarter-final stage. As per the Copa America 2021 fixtures, Group A consists of Argentina, Bolivia, Uruguay, Chile and Paraguay while Group B consists of Colombia, Brazil, Venezuela, Ecuador and Peru.
