Mohammad Amir to play IPL in future : See how it's possible for him

Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir has revealed about his possibility of playing in IPL after getting UK citizenship in the future. He shocked the cricketing world by announcing his retirement from international cricket last year at the young age of 28. Mohammad Amir has moved base to the United Kingdom with his family as his wife is British by birth.

Mohammad Amir is currently playing in franchise cricket across the world and has plans to raise his kids in England. However it is possible for Amir to play in the IPL, world’s biggest T20 league, once he gets the British Citizenship.

At the moment I’ve been granted indefinite leave to remain in the United Kingdom. I’m enjoying my cricket these days and plan to play for another 6 or 7 years so let’s see how things go. My children will grow up in England and receive their education there so no doubt I will be spending a fair amount of time there,”

At the moment, I’ve not really thought about the other possibilities and opportunities available and how things will turn out when I receive British citizenship in the future,” Mohammad Amir said.

After shifting base to Britain, Amir has the choice to opt for British Citizenship, which he can get easily because his wife is British and then it will be possible for Amir to play in IPL.

After the 2008 Mumbai attack, when the second season of the IPL was about to commenced, the Pakistan Cricket Board refused to grant permission to its players to come and play in India. On the other hand, the BCCI also took a decision on the same line and kept Pakistan away from the league. Till now, Pakistani players are not allowed to participate in Indian Premier League.

The only player participating in the IPL, who had played for Pakistan earlier was Azhar Mahmood, the former all-rounder, who registered himself as an English player and appeared for the Punjab Kings and the Kolkata Knight Riders.

At the time of his retirement, Mohammad Amir leveled some serious charges against the Pakistani team management, coaches, and even the Pakistan Cricket Board. He also criticized how cricket is run in the country and how a senior player like him was disrespected, which led him to take the decision to retire for the sake of his happiness and mental health.  The fast bowler had openly criticised Pakistan coaching staff including Waqar Younis and Misbah-ul-Haq on more than one occasion.

Amir, who made his debut for Pakistan in 2009, played 36 Tests, 61 ODIs, and 50 T20Is for his country. He was banned for 5 years from 2010-2015 for being found guilty of spot-fixing on a tour of England in 2010.

Paulo Dybala matched his feat by netting his 100th for Juventus in the 66th minute. Cristiano Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala both scored their 100th goal for Juventus in a 3-1 win over Sassuolo to keep their Champions League hopes alive.

With this win, Juventus move up to fifth, one point behind fourth-placed Napoli and three behind AC Milan and Atalanta. They will now face Inter Milan and Bologna in their final two fixtures. Tonight’s defeat leaves Sassulo at the eighth position.

Paulo Dybala scored his 100th goal for Bianconeri by chipping Sassulo’s goalkeeper Consigli after Dejan Kulusevski’s pass put him clean through. Dybala was later subbed off by Andre Pirlo, Mckennie came in his place.

Dybala has been injured most of the time for Turin this season. He is the only non-European player to hit 100 goals for Italian giants Juventus. Fifteen of Dybala’s 100 goals have come in the Champions League, and he is only two strikes away from equalling Filippo Inzaghi and Michel Platini (both 17) as the club’s joint third-highest scorer in the Champions League/European Cup.

Earlier Paulo Dybala had revealed that he and Cristiano Ronaldo are locked in a battle to become the first to reach 100 goals for Juventus.

“Ronaldo and I are challenging each other to reach 100 goals with Juventus. I need only one, while he still needs three. He always wants to win, even in training, and if he loses he becomes difficult to deal with for a few minutes.” Dybala told Ibai on Twitch.

On May 13, in the Serie A, Cristiano Ronaldo become the fastest player in Juventus history to score 100 goals for the club. He reached the mark by netting a goal just before half-time in the match against Sassuolo. Cristiano Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala both scored their 100th goal for Juventus in a 3-1 win over Sassuolo to keep their Champions League hopes alive. 36-year-old Ronaldo showed his athleticism as he controlled Adrien Rabiot’s header with a fine first touch prior and then beating goalkeeper Andrea Consigli with his second.

With this win, Juventus move up to fifth, one point behind fourth-placed Napoli and three behind AC Milan and Atalanta. They will now face Inter Milan and Bologna in their final two fixtures. Tonight’s defeat leaves Sassulo at the eighth position.

The Portugal star has netted 100 goals in 131 games for Juventus and has become the first Juventus player to ever do so. He achieved this incredible feat in less than three seasons.  Club legends Roberto Baggio and Omar Enrique Sivori both needed four seasons to score 100 goals for Juventus, while it took the club’s all-time leading scorer Alessandro Del Piero eight seasons to hit a century.

Cristiano Ronaldo had already 100-plus goals under his name for Spanish giants Real Madrid and Premier League heavyweights Manchester United. Ronaldo’s 100th strike for Juventus makes him the first player in the history of the beautiful game to score a century of goals for three different clubs in three different countries and his national team. Ronaldo scored 118 goals for Manchester United and as many as 450 strikes for the Los Blancos. The 36-year-old is leading Juventus’ fight in the Serie A almost single-handedly this season. The five-time UEFA Champions League winner is also the all-time top scorer of Europe’s biggest competition at club level with 134 goals.

In the match between Juventus and AC Milan, Fikayo Tomori broke Cristiano Ronaldo’s record for the highest jump to score a goal. Cristiano jumped 8.5 feet while Tomori jumped 8.7 feet.

AC Milan beat Juventus 3-0 in the match to end their hopes of a top 4 finish this season. At present, it is most likely that Cristiano Ronaldo along with Juventus will play in UEFA Europa League next season.

Tomori scored the third goal for AC Milan as the side ran out 3-0 winners over Juventus, putting a major dent in Ronaldo and team’s hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

Defender Fikayo Tomori is on-loan from Chelsea. He reached a staggering height of eight feet and seven inches inside the Allianz Stadium to surpass Cristiano Ronaldo’s record, which he set last season against Sampdoria.

Ronaldo, who is 6ft 2in tall, claimed the ‘greatest leap’ crown when he soared up to 8ft 5in against Sampdoria at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium during the 2019-20 campaign.

The billionaire businessman, Anand Mahindra gifted the all-new Thar SUV to Mohammed Siraj, Shubman Gill, Washington Sundar, T Natarajan, Navdeep Saini and Shardul Thakur for their outstanding performances in Australia which helped India clinch the four-match series and retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Apart from winning the series, another special moment was the win at The Gabba. Popularly known as Australia’s fortress, The Gabba, was finally breached when the Indian team claimed victory. The victory came 32 years and 2 months later when the Indian team beat Australia by three wickets in the final Test to take the series 2-1.

India was playing without their few key players, including their captain Virat Kohli. Virat went back to India after playing the first match as his wife, Anushka Sharma was about to give birth to a child. However, in absence of these players, the youngster performed strongly to make sure that India won against Australlia. Six young men made their debuts in that recent historic series.

Here are those Six Indian Cricketers who were gifted Thar SUV by Anand Mahindra :

Mohammed Siraj

Mohammed Siraj made his debut in the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne. He was the highest wicket taker for India with 13 wickets in 3 matches. He also picked a maiden five-wicket haul in the series-decider in Brisbane. Siraj had lost his father before the series against Australia started, but he decided to stay back to fulfil the dream of his father.

Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill was the only batsman in Mahindra’s list to receive the beast, Thar. He scored 259 runs in 3 Tests at 51.80 with 2 fifties and a highest score of 91 which he made in the record run chase in Brisbane on January 19. He showed a great intent from the very first ball he faced at the MCG and impressed everyone with his immaculate stroke play.

Washington Sundar

He was among one of two debutants for Team India in the final Test. Washington Sundar made an immediate impact, producing a solid performance with both bat and the ball. Sundar bagged three wickets in his first Test innings, including the important wicket of Steve Smith. He was also a part of123-run partnership with Shardul Thakur. His knock of 62 runs, batting at number seven, was the third-highest score by a Team India debutant at that position.

T Natarajan

He was the second Team India debutant in the final Test at the Gabba although he didn’t have as good a performance as Sundar. T Natarajan went wicketless in the second innings at the Gabba but picked three wickets in the first innings, including the all-important wicket of the centurion Marnus Labuschagne.

Navdeep Saini

Saini made his debut in the New Year’s Test in Sydney. He bowled with an injured hamstring in Australia’s 2nd innings but went wicketless in the match. Navdeep Saini was injured during the first innings of the Gabba Test, so his impact in Team India’s stunning win was limited. Although, he was very good with the ball in his debut Test in Sydney

Shardul Thakur

Shardul Thakur was playing his 2nd Test in Brisbane. He was also included in Mahindra’s list  because his debut had lasted just 1.4 overs against the West Indies in Hyderabad in 2018. Shardul scored 67 crucial runs in the final Test and picked 7 wickets in the match as India become the first team to beat Australia at the Gabba since 1988.

Mohammed Siraj has made an amazing comeback in his career. He is one of India’s leading pacers in red-ball cricket after a dream run in Australia earlier this year. In IPL 2021 also, he was the main man for Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Mohammed Siraj against Australlia

Siraj, who was given a debut in the absence of the injured first-choice pacemen, was one of the main architects of India’s famous 2-1 Test series win over Australia. With 13 wickets in three Tests he was India’s highest wicket-taker and third overall behind Australia’s Pat Cummins (21) and Josh Hazlewood (17) who both appeared in all four matches of the series.

The right-arm pacer, who made his Test debut at the Melbourne Cricket Ground during the Boxing Day Test, has had a very emotional tour. He lost his father a few days after he arrived in Australia but couldn’t return home to attend his burial due to strict quarantine rules that would have taken a lot of time.

The Evolution of Mohammed Siraj

In 2019, the Siraj made nine appearances for RCB and got thrashed for 38.42 runs on an average, per game. He only just seven wickets throughout the season and his economy rate of 9.55 made the franchise fans scratch their heads thinking about the reason why he was still around. He was arguably one of biggest reasons why his squad would struggle to stand toe-to-toe against the competition.

RCB vs KKR – IPL 2019

Everyone remembers the match between RCB and KKR in IPL 2019, when Russell almost finished the career of Mohammed Siraj. Kohli handed him the last over with 19 runs needed for Kolkata Knight Riders to win. Mighty Andre Russell was on the strike. Siraj was so intimidated by Russell’s hitting that he ended up bowling a second beamer to him and the umpire promptly told Kohli to take his bowler out of attack at Chinnaswamy in 2019. Russell on that day went on to make 13-ball 48 to clinch the win for KKR.

Siraj pulled a lot of hard work during the first Covid-forced lockdown in India for his transformation as a bowler.

“To be honest, during the lockdown before the last IPL (in the UAE), I worked very hard on my fitness and bowling during thattime,” he said during an interaction. “The last IPL was very important for me because the previous two editions hadn’t gone too well for me. My performance wasn’t up to the mark, so in that sense it was important that I did well the last time around.”Siraj said.

In the match between RCB and KKR in IPL 2021. Russell and Siraj were against each other again. Mohammed Siraj bowled an incredible over against Andre Russell, giving just 1 run in the penultimate over. Siraj kept the ball off-wide and also bowled yorkers to deny Russell any chance of hitting a four or six. Russell could not score any runs in the first 5 balls, after failing to clear the boundaries and also rejected to take a run. With giving just one run, Siraj took the victory far away from Kolkata Knight Riders.

Mohammed Siraj thanked Virat Kohli

India pacer Mohammed Siraj attributed his growth in international cricket to the support he has been receiving from his India and Royal Challengers Bangalore captain, Virat Kohli. The Hyderabad pacer said Kohli has been standing by him through thick and thin of his career.

“Virat has supported me through thick and thin. He has always been there for me in all circumstances. I remember how I was crying in the hotel room. Vrirat bhaiya came to my room and hugged me tightly and said ‘I am with you, don’t worry’. Those words encouraged me a lot. He played just one Test on the tour but his messages and calls motivated me.” Siraj said in an interview.

India’s top cricketers have started receiving their vaccines after the Indian government threw open the drive for those aged 18 and above from May 1. BCCI has asked the players to get the Covishield vaccine instead of the Covaxin.

India pacer Jasprit Bumrah on Tuesday received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while on Monday, India skipper Virat Kohli, pacer Ishant Sharma, and batsman Cheteshwar Pujara also received their first dose of Covid-19 vaccine. Shikhar Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane and Umesh Yadav have also taken the first jibe of the vaccine.

Virat Kohli shared the following picture of him getting vaccinated on his Instagram story:

BCCI has asked the players to get the Covishield vaccine instead of the Covaxin, as Covishield is based on Oxford-the AstraZeneca vaccine (a UK based product) meaning that the Indian players can get the second jab easily during the five-match Test series against England. It is worth mentioning that the second dose of the vaccine requires a gap of a minimum of 28 days and the 24 players bound for England will be in the UK as the Team Indian contingent leaves at the start of June.
“It is advised that they take Covishield in India because it is based on the AstraZeneca vaccine, a UK product. They may get the second shot in the UK. Getting a different vaccine [Covaxin] here is of no use.” A BCCI source said.

IPL 2021 was suspended due to several cases of Covid infections across teams. The Indian men’s team is scheduled to leave for the UK on June 2 via a charter flight. The Indian team will be on a three-and-a-half months-long tour, where they will first play the World Test Championship final against New Zealand (June 18-22) followed by a five-Test series against England in August-September.

India is currently undergoing a second – and far more deadly – Covid-19 wave. The country has been setting world records for infection rates over the last few days, according to health authorities, leading to a situation that has devastated the medical system. There is a current shortage of hospital beds in the ICU departments, as well as a lack of medicines and ventilators.

On Tuesday the FC Barcelona midfielder, Frenkie de Jong celebrates his 23rd birthday. La liga also wished him by posting a picture on their social media account.

Happy Birthday Frenkie de Jong, the young midfielder of Barcelona

Born on 12 May 1997 in Arkel (Netherlands), Frenkie de Jong is one of the Europe’s most promising midfield talents. At just 21 years of age, he joined FC Barcelona after proving himself as a polyvalent player with an excellent reading of the game and ability to provide the killer pass.

The Dutchman started out in the Willem II academy, but after just one year in Tiburg he caught the eye of Ajax, who signed him to the club in 2015. However, he was loaned back from Amsterdam to his former team to ensure he got enough playing time to fully develop as a player. De Jong then returned to Ajax to lead its reserve team, Jong Ajax, in the Jupiler League.

Frenkie de Jong was a big star in the Copa del Rey final against Athletic Club. The midfielder’s performance drew rave reviews, as FC Barcelona went on to lift their first trophy of the season and the 31st Copa in club history.

The Dutch midfielder took part in all four Barça goals, assisting Griezmann from the right for the opener. Shortly after, he scored to make it 0-2, before assisting Leo Messi (0-3) and participating at the start of the play which ended with the fourth goal. De Jong completed 67 passes to his teammates and four dribbles.

De Jong’s goal -Barça’s second of the game- also carried historic significance. He became the first Dutchman to score in a Copa del Rey final for the club. Only one other player hailing from the Netherlands has found the net previously on such an occasion: Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink with Atletico Madrid in 1999/2000.

Mumbai Indians wishes Happy Birthday to The Big Man "Kieron Pollard"

On the occasion of Kieron Pollard’s birthday, IPL franchise Mumbai Indians posted a number of birthday wishes for its main player, popularly known as “The Big Man”.

Mumbai Indians also shared a video on their Twitter account in which players are expressing their thoughts on Pollard’s mind blowing performance against CSK in IPL 2021.

With Mumbai three down for 81 in 9.4 overs, Pollard came to the crease and blasted 87* off 34 deliveries including six boundaries and eight sixes. With the Pandya brothers, Pollard stole victory from CSK on the very last ball of the game, leaving fans in a frenzy. to hand his team a 4-wicket win of the last ball of the match. It was one of the best performances of Kieron Pollard.

A towering Trinidadian, Kieron Pollard is one of the hardest hitters of the cricket ball and is also a useful medium-pace bowler. Pollard’s feats on the domestic circuit and his remarkable display in the 2009 Champions League T20 made him a nation-wide household name. Although he has a decent first-class record, he is seen by many as an ideal cricketer in the limited-over formats.

In March 2021, West Indies superstar cricketer Kieron Pollard became just the third batsman in international cricket to hit 6 sixes in an over. Pollard achieved the feat when he hit Sri Lanka’s Akila Dananjaya out of the park 6 times in the 6th over of West Indies’ successful chase in the first T20I at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua on Thursday.

Kieron Pollard joins World Cup-winning former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh as the only other batsman to hit 6 sixes in an over in T20I cricket. At the international level, it was former South Africa opener Herschelle Gibbs who achieved the feat first — in a World Cup 2007 match against the Netherlands.

After seeing this sweet gesture of Cristiano towards his former club, it is assumed by many fans that he might join Sporting Lisbon for the next season. Juventus are on the verge of playing in UEFA Europa League next year and the club is not in a financial condition to bear the high salary of Ronaldo. Therefore, reports have said that Cristiano might take a big pay cut to join his first club, Sporting Lisbon.

Sporting ended their 19-year title drought in Portuguese league. Sporting Lisbon’s wait of nearly two decades for a Portuguese league title is finally over after they defeated Boavista 1-0 on Tuesday to win the league for the first time since 2002. With this win they ended the reign of local clubs Porto and Benfica. Porto had won 11 titles and Benfica 7 since Sporting last lifted the trophy 19 years ago.

Thousands of celebrating fans had greeted Ruben Amorim’s side outside the Jose Alvalade Stadium before kick-off. Thousands of Sporting fans had gathered outside the club’s ground well before kick-off. Local authorities had asked supporters to respect social-distancing restrictions. Once the match ended fans flooded the streets of Lisbon, accompanied by fireworks, car horns blaring and chants of ‘we are champions’.

In September 2020, Cristiano Ronaldo was honored by Sporting CP as academy named after Juventus star. Sporting CP have officially renamed their academy after former player Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo’s professional journey began at Jose Alvalade Stadium way back in 2002, as he quickly established himself as one of the most exciting young players in the Primeira Liga. He caught the attention of Manchester United officials during a pre-season friendly one year later, and went on to complete a £12 million ($15m) switch to Old Trafford at the age of 18.
